Bring art you already made
If you made every piece somewhere else (by hand, in another tool, one image at a time) you do not need layers. Give KURV the finished art and the list that says what each piece is, and everything after that is the same as any other collection: rarity, publish, launch, mint.
Start at Create → I have the art already.
The folder
Section titled “The folder”blobs/ metadata.json art/ 1.png 2.png 3.pngTwo things, side by side: a folder called art holding your pieces, and a file called metadata.json beside it listing them in order.
- Number the pieces
1,2,3… up to however many you have. Start at 1 and skip nothing. - The number is the piece’s id. Piece
7.pngis the seventh entry inmetadata.json, and it mints as#7. - Every piece is the same kind of file. A folder of PNGs, or a folder of GIFs, not a mix.
What a piece can be
Section titled “What a piece can be”| Type | Extension | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PNG | .png | Transparency is kept. |
| GIF | .gif | Animated GIFs stay animated. |
| WebP | .webp | Still or animated. |
| JPG | .jpg, .jpeg | No transparency. |
One piece can be up to 20 MB. That is the same limit the publisher enforces, so a folder KURV accepts is a folder KURV can publish.
Your file is the file that gets published. KURV never re-draws, re-sizes or re-encodes a piece, which is why an animated GIF is still animated on your mint page, on the shelf and in every wallet that shows it. The only thing built from your art is a short looping preview of the whole collection, and that is a separate file: your pieces are untouched.
metadata.json
Section titled “metadata.json”A list, in square brackets. One entry per piece, in the same order as the numbers on the files.
[ { "name": "Blob #1", "description": "The first one.", "attributes": [ { "trait_type": "Body", "value": "Gold" }, { "trait_type": "Eyes", "value": "Laser" } ] }, { "name": "Blob #2", "attributes": [ { "trait_type": "Body", "value": "Blue" }, { "trait_type": "Eyes", "value": "Laser" } ] }]name: required. What collectors see on the piece. KURV does not rename it.description: optional. Per piece. The collection’s own description is asked once on the screen where you pick the folder.attributes: required, and a list. A piece with no traits gets"attributes": [].- Each attribute is a
trait_typeand avalue. The value can be a word or a number. display_typeandmax_valueare carried through if you use them.
This is the OpenSea attribute shape, so a file exported from most tools already fits.
Anything else in an entry is left out. The image field is written by KURV when the collection is published, because only then does the art have an address.
Traits a piece does not have
Section titled “Traits a piece does not have”Leave the attribute out. A piece with no Hat simply has no Hat entry, and KURV reads that as “this one has no hat”: it counts it, and it works out how rare going without is.
Rarity
Section titled “Rarity”KURV reads the trait_type and value of every piece and scores the collection the same way it scores one it generated: a piece’s score is the sum of 1 / how common each of its traits is, and rank 1 is the rarest. You do not set anything. Ties share a rank, the way a results table does.
The preview grid shows each piece with its rank, so you can check the scoring against what you expected before you publish.
Picking the folder
Section titled “Picking the folder”- On a computer: press the button and choose the folder, or drag the folder anywhere onto the page.
- On a phone: there is no folder to pick, so zip the folder and press Pick a ZIP.
Your pieces are opened in your own browser. Nothing leaves your machine until you press Publish.
If something is off
Section titled “If something is off”KURV checks the whole folder before it shows you anything, and it names the piece:
metadata.json describes 500 pieces and the art folder holds 499.Piece 312 has no art: nothing in the art folder is named 312.Piece 44 in metadata.json has no name. The art folder mixes .png and .gif files.Piece 8 is 22 MB, over the 20 MB one piece can be.
Fix it in your file manager and pick the folder again. Nothing you typed on the screen is lost.
What happens next
Section titled “What happens next”- Preview. Every piece, as it is, with its rank.
- Publish. Your files go to IPFS, pinned by KURV. Freeze makes the link to them permanent. Publishing is free.
- Launch. The wizard asks for the ticker, the price, the coin it is bought in and the royalty, and you sign the collection onto Base. Every collection launched on KURV has a Vault, and so does this one. You decide how much of each mint goes into it, from nothing at all.
From Publish onwards it is the same flow as a collection built from layers: see Publish your files and Launch your collection.
