Glossary
Look up any word you see in KURV. Each one gets a short, plain definition.
Fees sums up all the fee numbers. Read Risks and disclaimer before you rely on the floor or on any fee. For what’s actually running on testnet today, see What’s live right now.
Making a collection
Section titled “Making a collection”- Generative collection: The only kind of collection KURV launches. The app builds each piece by combining your layer art, so every piece is unique.
- Pinned piece: A piece whose traits you choose yourself. It comes out of the random pool, so no other piece can match it. See Rules and pinned pieces.
- Seed: The long code every build starts from. The same seed with the same layers and settings makes the exact same collection.
- Provenance fingerprint: A short code made from your whole build and recorded on chain. Anyone can use it to check that nothing was swapped after launch.
- Pinning: Keeping a copy of your files on IPFS so they stay reachable. KURV pins them through its Pinata account.
Selling and minting
Section titled “Selling and minting”- Mint: Getting a piece for the first time, straight from the collection’s contract. It is also the name of the page where you do that.
- Sale method: How people buy from a collection. You choose it at launch. See Sale methods.
- Phase: A window of time with its own price and limits, and an allowlist if you want one. A launch has one or more phases.
- Allowlist: The wallets allowed to mint in a phase, one per line.
- Reveal: Swapping the mystery image for the real art. You cannot undo it.
- Freeze: Locking the art and labels forever. Marketplaces show that it is frozen.
Money, fees and the vault
Section titled “Money, fees and the vault”All amounts are in USDC. Network fees are separate from every fee below. Read Risks and disclaimer first.
- Primary fee: KURV’s 5% of the price of a paid mint.
- Primary share: The part of a paid mint that goes to the creator: 0–50% of what is left after KURV’s 5%. The rest goes into the vault as backing. Buyers see the share before they pay.
- Service fee: $0.25 to KURV for each piece on a free mint or free claim. It is charged per piece, not per transaction. The collector pays it, or the creator can pay it for them. Paid mints never pay it.
- Royalty: One trading fee of 5–10%, set by the creator. It can never be zero. It applies to sales between people, sell-backs and vault resales. It comes out of what the seller gets and is never added to the buyer’s price. It is split 50% to the creator, 25% to the vault and 25% to KURV. It does not apply to mints or gifts.
- Vault: A collection’s own pool of backing. It buys pieces back and keeps them as inventory. Then it sells them again. It never burns them.
- Backing: The USDC in a collection’s vault that stands behind its pieces.
- Floor: The backing behind each piece still out with collectors. It is not a market price or a promise of what a piece will sell for. It can change, and a free collection can start with a floor of zero.
- Sell-back: Selling your piece to its collection’s vault. You get the piece’s backing minus the haircut and the royalty, and both come out of that same backing. The piece goes into the vault’s inventory.
- Haircut: 10% of a piece’s backing. It stays in the vault when you sell that piece back, and it comes on top of the royalty.
- Vault resale: The vault selling a returned piece again. Only the royalty applies. The vault keeps everything except the creator’s and KURV’s shares of the royalty. It only sells if that covers the backing the piece needs.
- Voluntary contribution: Extra USDC anyone can add to a collection’s backing. All of it goes to backing, with no fee. It gives no extra pieces, no refund claim and no payout to the creator.
Examples on $100, with a 50% primary share and a 10% royalty.
| Example | Seller gets | Creator | Vault keeps | KURV |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paid mint at $100 | – | $47.50 | $47.50 | $5.00 |
| Sale between people at $100 | $90.00 | $5.00 | $2.50 | $2.50 |
| Sell-back of a piece with $100 backing | $80.00 | $5.00 | $12.50 | $2.50 |
| Vault resale at $100 | – | $5.00 | $92.50 | $2.50 |
With a 5% royalty, the same sale pays the seller $95.00, and the same sell-back pays $85.00. A free mint of four pieces costs $1.00 in service fees.
Wallets, gas and testing
Section titled “Wallets, gas and testing”- Wallet: What holds your key and signs for you. You get one when you sign in, for example with Google, Apple or email. Only you can move what is in it.
- Network fee: What the chain charges to write anything. KURV never gets any of it. You pay it in USDC, taken by Coinbase’s paymaster in the same step as your action, so you never need ETH.
- Sponsored gas: KURV’s gas policy covers the network fee for some actions, and “Get test funds” quietly sends invited testers the test ETH they need for the rest, so nobody has to find or handle ETH themselves.
- Invite code: A one-time code of twelve letters and numbers, like ABCD-EFGH-JKMN. It puts your signed-in wallet on the list of invited testers. Testnet only.
- Test funds: Free test USDC and KTEST for invited testers, once a day, from “Get test funds”. They have no value. Testnet only.
- KTEST: A test coin for trying phases priced in a creator’s own coin. Each claim gives you 1,000, and it has no value. Testnet only.
Testnet only. Nothing here is financial advice. Read Risks and disclaimer before you mint, buy or sell back. Back to kurv.fun.
