Gas and network fees
This page covers the one cost that is not a KURV fee: what the network charges to write your action to the chain. Your wallet needs no ETH to use KURV.
What a network fee is
Section titled “What a network fee is”Every action written to Base (a launch, a mint, a sale) costs a small network fee, often called gas. It pays the network for doing the work. All of it goes to the network and its paymaster, and KURV receives none of it.
Network fees sit outside KURV’s fee schedule. They are never part of any percentage on the Fees page.
One network, one coin per collection
Section titled “One network, one coin per collection”KURV runs on Base and Solana. A creator picks the network at launch, and the whole app works on both. On Solana the network fee is in SOL, with a small storage charge for each new account.
Each collection is priced in one coin its creator picks at launch: USDC by default, or any other coin on Base. Every price on that collection is in that coin. The USDC KURV uses is the one issued by Circle on Base, the digital dollar’s own issuer.
The network fee is a separate matter: it always comes out of your USDC, whatever coin the collection is priced in.
What happens when you press a button
Section titled “What happens when you press a button”- You press the button: Launch, Mint or Sell to the Vault.
- You confirm once, in your KURV wallet.
- Everything that step needs goes out as one operation from your address. That includes letting the contract take the coin you are paying in. The approval and the action happen together, or neither happens.
- Coinbase runs a service called a paymaster. It pays the network in ETH (the network’s own coin) on your behalf, and takes the same value from your USDC.
Your address stays the same. Your balances and your collections stay where they are.
Who pays it
Section titled “Who pays it”You do, whoever presses the button. It comes out of your USDC, taken by the paymaster after your action runs. The money goes to the network and to Coinbase for running the paymaster.
On Base the network fee always comes out of your own USDC.
On Base these fees are usually a few cents. They move with how busy the network is, so these docs quote no figure.
Keep a little spare USDC
Section titled “Keep a little spare USDC”Your wallet needs enough for the action and a little USDC for its network fee. KURV checks this before it sends anything. If you are short, it tells you how much to add and sends nothing.
When a transaction fails
Section titled “When a transaction fails”If a transaction fails, no KURV fee survives it. The network fee is still spent, because the network still did the work.
