Sell a piece back to the vault

Every KURV collection has its own vault. If you hold a piece, you can sell it back to that vault for USDC instead of finding a buyer.

Selling back is not a promise of any price. Read Risks and disclaimer first. For what testnet’s sell-back button does today, which is not this, see What’s live right now.

Each piece carries backing: the USDC the vault holds for it. Call it B. This is the vault floor. It is not a market price, and it can change.

When you sell back, two deductions come out of B:

  • a 10% haircut, which stays in the vault, and
  • the collection’s royalty, which the creator set between 5% and 10%.

Both are worked out from the full B. You receive what is left.

The royalty is split 50% to the creator, 25% to KURV and 25% to the vault. No primary fee and no other marketplace fee is added. Network costs are separate.

A piece with $100 of backing:

RoyaltyYou receiveCreatorKURVStays in backing
5%$85.00$2.50$1.25$11.25
10%$80.00$5.00$2.50$12.50

At a 10% royalty you receive 80%, not 81%. At a 5% royalty you receive 85%, not 85.5%. The haircut is not taken first with the royalty on what is left.

“Stays in backing” is the haircut plus the vault’s 25% of the royalty. It stays in that collection’s backing for the pieces still held. It is not paid out to KURV or the creator.

Real amounts are counted in USDC’s smallest units, so they can differ from these examples by a fraction of a cent.

  • The piece moves into the vault’s inventory. It is not burned. The vault can sell it again later.
  • You can only sell a piece to its own collection’s vault. Pieces from other collections, or pieces that are not eligible, can’t use this route.
  1. Open the collection page and sign in.
  2. Find the Sell back panel. It shows how many pieces you hold there.
  3. Choose how many pieces to sell.
  4. Check your minimum proceeds on screen.
  5. Confirm and sign.

The screen shows the least you will be paid. If something changes in the vault before your sale goes through, you get at least that amount, or the sale does not happen and your pieces stay yours.

Your receipt shows what actually arrived.

Each piece changes the vault, so a sale of several pieces is quoted one piece after another. It is not one piece’s quote times the number of pieces. The total can differ from that simple multiple.
